Phew

Even though I had an appointment, the purchase of the phone was slowed WAY down by sprint's system not being up to the task of all the signups. The Best Buy reps kept having server timeouts when trying to enter accounts, and when they called the service desk they would be hung up on by the automated system. Quite a mess. Needless to say, after two hours I got my phone.

Typing is a pain since I'm not used to either single finger typing nor thumb typing. Lots of typos, but hopefully I'll get better with practice and not feel like a 4-year old.

I've already downloaded some apps, including Google Goggles, Sky, Maps, Voice, etc. Much fun has been had with Goggles taking pictures of things and seeing what it can identify and what it can't. It identified cans of coke and pepsi as their particular brands, and also a container of morton salt, but didn't seem to be able to recognize the emerson microwave in the lunch room. The geolocation feature is kind of neat where it shows nearby locations in whatever direction you're facing, and if you click on the little link for any particular one comes up with the google match, and from there you can either go to the web page or press the phone number if you want to call them.

Right now its hard to resist the urge to play with the Evo, even though I'm trying to let it charge. Additional charging cables and a Cigarette port to USB adapter are on the way from monoprice.com (the 2 microusb to usb cables, the car charger, and a couple of other items came to a total of exactly $8.00 including shipping! Way to go monoprice! ).

More later as I delve into it more.
